who ever wrote the ticked off post in response to an add for a personal care giver (i think under administrative jobs, or part time jobs), who specified the age their clients need: give them a break: i guess you havent really worked in health care for very long. if you had, you would know that some people who are memory impaired sometimes do like a specific sort of person to care for them. for example: some women where i work for do not like having men care for them in general. some people just dont feel comfortable with a younger person around them, doing things like bringing them to the shower, bathroom, etc. its a matter of respect for the person/client, etc. and giving them some dignity i wouldnt take it so personally. its not like the advertiser made an insult specifically to you. thats just the way things are with certain folks who are memory impaired. and trust me, i know this because, though im only 30, ive been working with the memory impaired since 2002, really good people want the best care possible for their memory impaired loved ones, and if that means naming a certain age, than thats that give them a break, please |
