The Midcoast Council of Governments (MCOG) is a council of governments that supports regional planning and regional economic development for more information please see our website: http://www.midcoastcog.org. MCOG seeks a highly qualified individual to successfully lead and manage the organization to the fullest realization of its mission by managing the organizations programs and finances, developing and motivating a high-performing staff, building consensus and conducting a robust community relations program. The Executive Director manages a budget of approximately $350,000 and a staff of two, full and part time personnel. The Executive Director reports directly to an Executive Committee and the Committee Chair, and serves on the Committee ex officio. JOB DESCRIPTION: The key responsibilities of the Executive Director include those listed below:. Implementing and improving core programs Financial management including budget planning and tracking Managing staff Marketing the organization and building membership Identifying funding opportunities and preparing grant requests Developing and maintaining community relations Collaborating with government agencies and other non-government organizations Identifying new ways to leverage the organizations skills and programs Offering strategic responses to new challenges and opportunities to achieve the organizations mission QUALIFICATIONS: Qualified applicants will have a broad knowledge of regional planning and economic development, public administration and finance, equivalent to an advanced degree in one or more of these fields. Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential. Work requires five (5) years of progressively responsible related experience. Strong candidates will have outstanding inter-personal skills, comfort dealing with conflict and staff challenges, self confidence and drive with an ability to establish direction and work with minimal guidance and support, ease making presentations and communicating with various audiences, and flexible and able to manage multiple and competing priorities. The ideal candidate will also have the proven ability to establish and achieve a strategic vision, a track record of developing and managing a high-performing staff, a solid history of developing and managing financial and operational goals and objectives, and success developing and implementing programs. SALARY & BENEFITS: Annual salary: $55,000 to $65,000, commensurate with experience.
